Stress After Vacations

Life is a continuous learning. In other words,  is a continuous process of your life. Every day we learn from many things like in our daily experiences. Life is about continuous learning, discovering new things, and growing. Successful people don't think they know everything. They are open to new ideas. And it’s just the right reason why students go to school. If we only depend on experience, there’s no such thing as discovery at all.

Third quarter! As usual, stressed. Summative test, not enough days to discuss, thematic projects, and after the vacation, Third quarterly examination, and many more requirements to finish.

Unlike in the last quarter, it is easier compared to the last quarter. All we need to worry is the examinations to be done on January. Also the other requirements to finish.

Like in the last quarter, all we need is time management and review. Managing your time is very important. Mix it with a good review and it’ll make a perfect potion for the third quarter.

Moving on, I will continue to pursue my dreams by pushing myself to achieve my kind of success in which my parents would be proud of me.

Love, Family, and God: The True Essence of Christmas

"'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la..." as the song goes. Every year, it is in our tradition to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25. Here in the Philippines, we have the longest Christmas season starting from September up to December.

It is truly indeed the most wonderful time of the year where people only thinks about happiness. It is the season of giving. It's not the gift that we want to give but actually we want extend the warm greetings, our sincerest gratitude, and most important of all, we want to give love.

We cannot measure ones love by the their gifts, the price, and whatsoever. Back then I realized the true meaning of the saying, "It's better to give than to receive." Even though you don't have any money, gifts, or delicious food to eat at Christmas, as long as you have your family to accompany with and rejoice, I tell you, you have the best Christmas celebration ever.

Slowly the snow filters to the ground
The air is filled with a glorious sound
Caroler's singing their praises of Joy
Of a New Found King in a baby Boy
Baby in a manger swaddled with love
God sent His Son from the Heaven's above
He sent a King to Reign over us all
The angels spreading this beautiful call
I see them flying through the darkened night
The North Star appears as a guiding light
That star still shining brightly in our sky
Still guiding us to where our souls should fly
Worshiping the King in this baby sent
To fulfill the prophecies he was meant
to seize our souls and fill them with His love
There is nothing greater than His Reign above
We can only imagine this great scene
Walking across those hills what did it mean?
Sending a message for all man to hear
Our glorious Lord He has now drawn near
To this day we sing His praises on High
To gather us all to His name we cry
In honoring that day so long ago
Love for the Lord in our hearts to show
I can imagine the Joy that He must feel
Pride in His people, to Him they reveal
United in His Spirit on this Day
His message Spread through a World wide way
To me this is the true Christmas Essence
The power of souls touched in His presence
It's a festival for Christ that we throw
In Honor of His Name our praise to show
We don't worship the trees that we adorn
We Worship the day that Our Christ was born
The Bible says the Lord gets our Glory
Praise the most treasured Day in History!

No Hate, Just Love

Women and children often experience different kinds of violence. These take in the form of emotional, mental, and the most common one is physical. We often hear in the news about battered women, raped women, and abused children – especially in tabloids. News agencies often exploit stories like these, because these are great controversies, and readers often enjoy reading controversial news. Sometimes, these abuses also pushes women to commit suicide. We see many forms of kinds in police stations also. It’s also rampant in our communities, but we chose to be silent. After all, these are personal and family matters. It’s none of our business, so to speak. We have the police to protect them, supposedly. These are the rabid flaws of our system, brought about our wrong beliefs and culture here in the Philippines.

Women and children are supposed to be loved. We do not hurt them. It is important to teach everyone about nonviolent behavior. Like teachers should do to their students. It is very much needed because of the contemporary exposure of children to violence is immense. Television, computer games, and media had continuously give the weak child’s mind of aggressiveness and violence. Sometimes children do experience violence themselves in the environment they are living. Nowadays, the personality of teachers is more valued than their knowledge. Violence Against Women and Their Children Law had save many lives. Most victims of VAWC did not seek help from the police.

The forgoing narration above are all true. It is the obligation of the government to protect its people, especially those who are powerless, and prone to abuse such as women and children. In fact, a law to address this concern has been enacted by the government, with the aim to lessen these occurrences, and most importantly, protect our women and children. This is called “The Republic Act 9262 or Violence against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, or otherwise known as VAWC.

According to Atty. Rainier Mamaňgun, “This law establishes the parameters and guidelines, in keeping with the fundamental freedoms guaranteed under the Constitution and the Provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women, Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international human rights instruments of which the Philippines is a party”. The internet also defines Violence Against Women and Their Children as “any act or series of acts committed by any person against women who is his wife which result in physical, sexual, psychological harm or suffering, or economic abuse including threats of such act, assault, harassment or arbitrary deprivation of liberty.”

Yes, we have the Republic Act 9262. Maybe the more important question now is, does the enactment of this law has really served its purpose to protect our women and children? As my own observation tells me, and if you take a further look deep in our community, I can say we still have to see the full effect of this Act. I still see many abuses happening around us. Maybe lawsuits have been logged against the perpetrators, but the very slow judicial system of our country, coupled by the very inefficient law enforcers- the police force, and is taking its toll on our abused women and children.  The dragging system allows the perpetrators to roam our streets, leaving the abused women and children at more risk from these bad people. I hope that in the near future, the Act would soon be fully implemented, and we will see a country with fully empowered Women and Children in the societies.

Trees for the Next Generations

Trees for the Next Generations

Fiery dawn across the blue sky, black smoking halo for each species cry. A lot of us helping but too many stand still, we all die together each rainforest we kill. Think what we’re doing and look at the green, burned out and cut down the blackest you’ve seen. Reactions are important and it’s time to act now, our future is with us rainforest is how.

They’re really somewhere over there. I may not see a rainforest in my entire life .What should it mean to me?  I know that in this rainforest that I may never see is half of the world’s plants, animals, and insects live in harmony.

Trees are cut faster than we know, in these trees are where the creatures live, so now where will they go? I shall, you shall, they shall, and we shall protect the forest.

When next you see the wide –flung branches of a graceful pine, tell yourself “A sacred service is part and parcel of mine”. I resolve to protect all trees forever and guard their heavenly-sent beauty, and to save the forest of our land shall ever be my duty.

Remember, this world of ours is one of the most prestigious things that we own. So, act now before it’s too late. Or we will be abandoning the next generations.

Childhood Days

            Childhood Days

I wish I was a child again. Have all the freedom to play, all the time to play, nothing more but to play. Every day we go elsewhere to play street games with our friends. We search for them just to have fun. And every game we play, we discover new things. And this is the day our minds are becoming eager about how the world plays.
We consider childhood as the best times in our lives. And parents also needs to give much of their time to them for this is the time where their children ask many questions or being curious about what’s around them.
Vigan City joins the commemoration of the National Children's Month on November with the theme “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan”. Some Vigan City Officials assigned little officials where students will have the chance to experience the work or how it feels to be a Governor, Mayor and many more.
This celebration is good for children for they celebrate it with happiness and smile in their faces and to those teachers also as they want to feel and experience being young again. Because, we only live once and experience it once in a lifetime.

Valuable Things

Valuable Things

Philippines is known for their hospitality. They are known for their open handed characteristics and they are very social, spending as much time as possible with family and friends. Unlike other countries, I can say that my homeland is very courteous. We say “po” and “opo” to those who are older than us. Blessing into our grandparents’ hands and many more.
This month, we celebrate Values Month with a theme “Pamilyang Pilipino Patatagin: Susi sa Paghubog ng Kabataang Maka-diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan at Makabansa”. Many activities were prepared like tagis talino where one of our classmate won first place on it. We also have kite flying, poster making, mural painting etc.
It is a good month for the students to have a break on studying and enjoy. Not only that but also to promote good attitudes, good manners and good characteristics.

Reunited!

Reunited

After the brutal force of the German forces, United Nations was created. United Nations is a combined force and good leadership and friendship of countries around the world. Their main advocacies are to make peace, economic development and others. They help each other in times of poverty and whenever they need help.
Some of the members of the United Nations were: China, France, UK, USA, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, Greece, India, Mexico, Philippines and many more. And as of now, there are currently 192 nations covered by United Nations.
We celebrated the United Nations Celebration here at our school with the theme: “Indigenous Languages Matter for Sustainable Development, Peace Building and Reconciliation”. There are spoken word poetry, quiz bee, and the main event which is the search for Mr. and Ms. UN where we supported our candidates and facilitated everyone’s safety.
It is an honor to participate in these activities and to this celebration for it’s not only for commemoration but it will also serve as relaxation for students and as a learning about what unity means.

Myself During Pressure

Second quarter! More stressed than you expected. Investigatory project, summative test, not enough days to discuss, thematic projects, etc. no man is an island, we surpassed it with my friends. Teamwork is the key.

Like the last quarter, thematic projects the one pulling us down. The challenge now is how are you going to finish it with the remaining time? This time, cooperation is the answer. After all, it will be heaven after the hell week.

Time management and cooperation is needed. Managing your time is very important. Mix it with cooperation and it’ll make a perfect potion for the second quarter.

Moving on, I will continue to pursue my dreams by pushing myself to achieve my kind of success in which my parents would be proud of me.

Molders of Tomorrow

Molders of Tomorrow

“Admit it, we’re still part of your success…” –Mrs. Elizabeth Quitoriano

My Teacher, My Friend, My Hero. They contribute big efforts in our lives. They are our second parents. Every day, they wake up early in the morning. Go to school, stressed, then after that, they go home after sunset. This is the effort they give. They care about us, give most of their time to us just to prepare us for our future, and mold us to a better person.

Teachers, yes, you may think that we are stupid but deep inside, you don’t know how thankful we are to have you and for your sacrifices and efforts to us. We are in deeply sorry for our actions sometimes.

As we celebrate the World Teacher’s Day, we would like to extend our greatest gratitude to our teachers who we call Heroes in our lives. Behind the success of every person, there’s always what we call heroes. Thank you for your sacrifices.

Winners in Our Own Way

Winners in Our Own Way

Being physically fit is necessary and important to our life. And students need it to be always active at school. As a traditional celebration, every school conducts intramurals every year where students can play and compete with their favorite sports.

FunBike was also an activity held last intramurals. Based from the name of the activity, competition is not present for we will do it with fun. After the FunBike, a little stretching before the main event. And the Maxconi students led the Zumba.

I somewhat witnessed the making of different booths of some clubs.

As a player also, I would like to promote physical fitness to everyone. It's not just for our physical appearance but also for the different aspects in our lives such as the mental health, social health and more.

Experience the World of Science!

Experience the World of Science!

SCIENCE. "Science is a systematized body of facts, knowledge, and principles that govern our lives and everything." My first definition of science before entering Special Science Class in Ilocos Sur National High School. And every year, many discoveries are published through the help of investigatory projects.

Scientist. My dream when I was a kid. Fascinated by the tricks and experiments by others. Then after graduating in elementary, I continued pursuing my dream: to become a successful neurosurgeon in the future. It might not be a scientist anymore but it was somewhat connected. I even applied to the SSC program of ISNHS, and still continuing my dreams.

This month is a special month for we celebrate the National Science Month with the theme "Metabolize: Nourishing the Filipino Youth Towards National Well-being". This month will encourage every student to love science for it gives us new knowledge for the future.

One thing that gives life to this month was the Sci Trix and Exhibits. Science Class students will have the opportunity to show what they've learned in science through experimental tricks.

As a Special Science Class student, I truly envy the world of science. For it gives us knowledge. Not just only knowledge but also happiness and fun.

Happy Schools Throughout the Philippines

Happy Schools Throughout the Philippines

It was May 30 when DepEd in Region 1 launched the “Happy Schools Movement” (HSM). It is said to be that this movement boosts the efficient implementation of the K to 12 in the Ilocos provinces.
This movement aims to promote every school in the region to be a better and enjoyable place to study. As we know that some students may think that school is a place of torture. And they aim to remove that mentality to every student.
It was based on the theme: “Paaralang Masayang Maglingkod, Tagumpay ng Bata’y Itaguyod.”
The movement aims to inculcate in the minds of pupils that school is not just a place for learning but also a place for fun and enjoyment as they enjoy what they are doing.
What I saw inside are some advocacy themes in every subjects or departments: “Talas Filipino: Umusbong sa Wika at Panitikan” (Filipino); “Reading is Power” (English); “Solve for Life” (Mathematics); “Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility” (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management); “The Joy of Exploration and Innovation” (Science); “Kwento Mo, Kwento Ko sa Matatag na Bansa Tutungo” (Araling Panlipunan); “Ako, Ikaw, Siya Tungo sa Makabuluhang Buhay” (Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao); “Pride is the Power of Hands” (Technology and Livelihood Education); “HOPE CA” (MAPEH) and many more.
Each booth gives you information and fun. It gives you HAPPINESS.

Unity

Unity

If we say solidarity, mutual support within a group. It is a unity or agreement of feeling or action among individuals with a common interest.

About Vigan City. It is now a part of a destination and included in the 7 Wonders of the World. We, the Bigueño, possesses unity and as a result, Vigan City is a very productive place and also the reason why we are now one of the 7 Wonders of the World.

One more reason why visit Vigan was for they have a preserved heritage structures. They have strong pride and care about their culture and products.

The celebration also portrays the life of the Bigueño’s through a parade wherein the participants dramatize the way how the Spaniards treat us while walking through the parade route. Story telling of the elders also happened.

Many more were able to watch and experience during the celebration. But these were the ones I remember.

Language: Bridge Towards Success

Language: Bridge Towards Success

Sometimes we consider languages as a part of our lives. Of course, this is what we need in order to communicate with others. We continue to learn different languages every day. Sometimes we thought that the languages that we know today is already enough. We thought that we already know about that language but the truth is, there’s still a deeper meaning. But as we learn new, we forget some. Our indigenous languages mostly. And so, in the Philippines, we celebrate “Buwan ng Wika” every August of the year and also as part of our lives. This year’s theme of Buwan ng Wika is “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino”. This aims to help raise awareness about indigenous languages’ role in developing and making the country’s identity. We use the languages as a bridge to unite the many ethnolinguistic groups in the country. Some of the activities reminded the students the true meaning of languages. Poster making, spoken word poetry, essay writing contests and many more. The overall message of the theme is that the Filipino language should always be remembered, use it for the country’s reputation, and embrace the multicultural identity of our nation.

Achieving My Kind of Success

Achieving My Kind of Success

Life is a continuous learning. In other words, learning is a continuous process of your life. Every day we learn from many things like in our daily experiences. Life is about continuous learning, discovering new things, and growing. Successful people don't think they know everything. They are open to new ideas. And it’s just the right reason why students go to school. If we only depend on experience, there’s no such thing as discovery at all.

During the first quarter, many things happened. Life taking quizzes, exhausting thematic projects, first periodical test, which was recently done, and many more. But what I have learned was different. It is teamwork. Sometimes you cannot do a project by yourself. You need a friend to help you. As well as your friends, they need you.

But along the way, we cannot avoid challenges to happen. Like the thematic project. Right now, we’re still struggling to finish the work. But we are one step closer to success. It is because of teamwork.

You will be needing time management and hard work for these problems. Managing your time is very important. If you use it with hard work, you are ahead to failure. Bet for me, fail is an inspiration. If you FAIL, never give up, because fail means First Attempt In Learning and is not the end. In fact, END means “Effort Never Dies”. If you get no as an answer, remember, NO means Next Opportunity.

Moving on, I will continue to pursue my dreams by pushing myself to achieve my kind of success in which my parents would be proud of me.

Filipino is Resilient

Filipino is Resilient

The Philippines is constantly being visited by strong typhoons yearly and even earthquakes that cannot be prevented by happening, resulting the people to be protective and alert at all times. Even before, the Filipinos are already good when it comes to our system of responsiveness from such disasters. The effect of these natural disasters are more likely to be diverse in our economic states. Devastated resources may lead to economic depression. That’s why disaster preparation plays an important role in our lives and it is said to be that it is a hindrance. Resiliency may be committed through cooperation and preparation of each and every one in times of struggles in our lives. This National Disaster Resilience Month with the theme: “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago”, will guide us on becoming more prepared country and be resilient.

Nutritious Words

Nutritious Words

It generally speaks about how we handle the way we live, our lifestyle. Eating healthy food, be active and do more exercise. It is encouraging us to live a life that we want but in a healthy way. Being physically fit is a condition in which an individual has enough energy to avoid fatigue and enjoy life. Lifestyle is a way in which an individual lives and the utmost important. Managing your lifestyle entails making modifications in your routine. Being physically fit makes you more active, more grades, more friends. Activeness is the key or should I rather say that a healthy community is the key to success.

Earthquake Readiness

Earthquake Readiness

Earthquake are natural disasters that people cannot prevent from happening. It is a dangerous disaster where many lives disappear. The only thing that we can do is to prepare and pray.  We have this earthquake drills lead by the NDRRMC. Their objective is to train the students and teachers and to test the various elements of their response plan in order to evaluate and make them ready at all times. When the earthquake strikes, there’s no time to decide what to do next and everyone must already know how to react appropriately. Earthquake drills are exercise which are extremely important because they teach us how to respond to the complications of an actual disaster. They help us prepare in any kind of disasters. Thanks to NDRRMC and other agencies for giving us this activity.

The Day of Liberty

The Day of Liberty

One hundred twenty-one years ago, we declared our independence from Spanish colonial rule, as the first republic in Asia. It’s one of the special days for the Filipinos. June 12, 1898 when we committed our freedom from the hands of the Spanish. People should know the importance of this significant event. This is why we still celebrate it to know the true nature or meaning of freedom. Our Independence Day originally fell on July 4. It was specifically designed to fall on the same day of the American’s Independence. But President Diosdado Macapagal decided to change the date to June 12. The fact is, July 4 is the date celebrated by the US to commemorate their proclamation of independence from Britain. It’s the same day when Emilio Aguinaldo proudly waved the Philippine Flag in Kawit, Cavite in the year 1898. Thanks to our great heroes, we now have our freedom. And now, we proudly raise our flag everyday as a sign of love, freedom, and independence.

Call me Buddy

Call me Buddy

I'm a teenager with medium build and height, with fair complexion and dark brown eyes. Some call me a bit chubby, but I call it a healthy body. I am a person with above average mental capacity. I can reason out well and can understand communications and instructions well. Some people say I am intelligent, but I call it just a right combination of practical thinking and presence of mind. I go along with friends and classmates. I have plenty of friends inside and outside school. I am also a person who loves privacy and enough me-time. On weekends, I usually spend it with my family, and I allot quiet time for my reflections. I can say that I am an emotionally stable person. I can express well how I feel at times. I am not an expressive person but pretty transparent. At times only a few knows how I truly feel. I am not a vocal person but I can share my emotions to some close friends and relatives. I am a religious person, but not a blind follower. I nurture my spiritual being regularly. I do reflection and I know how to talk to myself during moments in silence. My actions and decisions depend on my personal values, and with fear God. This Guides my spiritual well-being all time. I do play Mobile Legends a lot but I know how to balance it with my studies.
